The current Prime Minister of Turkey is Ahmet Davutoğlu who was born in Taşkent, Konya Province, Turkey. There is a Konya Bombing Range in the province where I personally dropped bombs during training exercises in Turkey 20 years ago. I believe Turkey is the KEY to the end times as it was the KEY to the beginning of human life in the Garden of Eden and the resting place for Noah’s Ark as life began again. The location of the Garden of Eden is thought to be in Iraq by scholars but they are wrong just as they are wrong about where Abraham was from. Ur is current day Şanlıurfa meaning Urfa the glorious. The true Ur lies a few miles north of Haran, both in Turkey. A river flowed out of the Garden of Eden and was parted and became four rivers, two of which were the Tigress and Euphrates. That simply means that there was a large spring in the Garden that was the source of those rivers. That could ONLY be in Turkey and in the area where the Ark came to rest.

Okay, Turkey is significant in so many ways as the capital of the Roman Empire when Christianity was adopted by Constantine and the location of the Church of Antioch (named for Alexander’s General Seleucus’ father Antiochus) that sent Paul on his Missionary Journeys. Paul was born in Turkey at Tarsus. Then there is Ancient Troy and the Seven Churches of Asia Minor. Even though your Bible maps are probably wrong, Turkey, not Mesopotamia, is the cradle of civilization.

I believe Davutoğlu of Turkey could very well be the Magog who leads an invasion into Israel along with Libya, Iran, and Sudan. All of these nations are fighting in Syria today. In Ezekiel chapter 39 the chief prince of Turkey leads the battle of Armageddon. Until last year, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the Prime Minister, now he is President of Turkey. One of these two men may be the Antichrist but there are other credible theories.

Although his foreign policy outlook has been described as Neo-Ottoman or Pan-Islamist, Davutoğlu has made Turkey’s ascension bid to the European Union a strategic target for his government. He has been criticized for failing to tackle political corruption and for growing government authoritarianism; with opposition commentators accusing his government of turning Turkey into a police state after new security measures were enacted to curb protests in October 2014. Davutoğlu’s policy of perceived inaction against ISIS was criticized internationally, though his government authorized airstrikes against both ISIS and Kurdish forces in the summer of 2015 after a suicide bombing in Suruç killed 32 people, bringing an end to a ceasefire that had been in place since December 2012.

I know that most bible prophecy teachers say that Magog in Ezekiel 38 refers to Russia. It is High Time to recognize that Magog is not Russia! That view came about by transcribing “chief” (or the Hebrew “rosh”) to mean Russia (Eze 38:1-3). Transposing Hebrew words into English phonetic equivalents is not proper bible prophecy interpretation technique. That technique is not used elsewhere to interpret bible prophecy. Rosh means first or primary.

Magog is mentioned in the genealogies of Genesis 10 as well as 1 Chronicles 1. Magog is mentioned alongside his brothers Meshech, Tubal, and Gomer, plus a few more. It is interesting to note that most bible prophecy teachers place Tubal, Gomer, Togarmah, and Meshech in today’s Turkey.

Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, and Togarmah are all people. As a matter of fact they are relatives. Magog, Meshech, Tubal and Gomer are brothers. Togarmah is Gomer’s son. They are among the first families to resettle the world after the devastation of Noah’s flood.

Gen 10:1-3 “Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. 2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.”

Japheth and his sons all settled in today’s Turkey. You could call Japheth the King of Turkey. His sons are all Princes. Magog was the chief or most prominent Prince amongst his brothers. Princes were set over provinces.
Eze 38:1-3 “And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief Prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief Prince of Meshech and Tubal”

So Magog was the son of Japheth. Japheth was the king of what we know as Turkey today. Magog and his brothers ruled over different provinces in the land we call Turkey today. Magog was the chief Prince of Meshech and Tubal. In other words, Magog was the most prominent Prince amongst his brothers. Remember that Meshech and Tubal settled in today’s Turkey. In prophetic terms Magog is the primary governor of Turkey. I would call him the Prime Minister. From 2003 to 2014 Turkey’s Prime Minister was Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Today the Prime Minister is Ahmet Davutoğlu and prime candidate to fulfill the end time role of Magog the primary governor of Turkey.

Russia may facilitate the attack against Israel but probably will not risk nuclear war by being directly involved.

In Ezekiel chapter 38 Turkey leads an invasion into Israel along with Libya, Iran, and Sudan. ALL OF THESE NATIONS ARE FIGHTING IN SYRIA TODAY. In Ezekiel chapter 39 the chief prince of Turkey leads the battle of Armageddon.

When I first read Ezekiel 38 as a young man, I was astonished. Libya, Iran and Sudan were our friends. We had an Air Force Base in Libya; Iran was our best ally flying our front line fighters and sending pilots to the US for Pilot Training. In fact, one of my best friends during pilot training was an Iranian who finished first in academics. I thought he had been killed during the overthrow of the Shah but we are friends on Facebook now. Sudan was ruled by a Christian ruler, Haile Selassie, until 1974.

LIBYA suffers an ongoing conflict beginning with the Arab Spring protests, which led to the First Libyan Civil War, foreign military intervention and the ousting and death of Muammar Gaddafi. The civil war’s aftermath led to violence and instability across the country, which erupted into renewed civil war in 2014. The ongoing crisis in Libya has so far resulted in tens of thousands of casualties since the onset of violence.

The two largest cities in Libya are the Capital Tripoli in the west and Benghazi in the east. The Muslim Barbary Pirates out of Tripoli were the first foreign forces to attack United States merchant ships when George Washington was President and the location of our first land battle when our Marines hit the shores of Tripoli. Benghazi is the city the Democrats are sick of hearing about where our Ambassador was left hanging.

As the Islamic State scores new victories in Syria and Iraq, its affiliate in Libya is also on the offensive, consolidating control of Gaddafi’s former home town and staging a bomb attack on a major city, Misurata.

The Islamic State’s growth could further destabilize a country already suffering from a devastating civil war. And Libya could offer the terrorists a new base from which to launch attacks elsewhere.

The Libyan affiliate does not occupy large amounts of territory as the Islamic State does in Syria and Iraq. But in the past few months, the local group has seized Sirte, the coastal city that was Gaddafi’s last fortification, as well as neighborhoods in the eastern city of Derna. Although the Islamic State claims allies in many countries, the Libya branch is especially close to the main organization. Its core fighters in Libya are veterans of the Syrian civil war.

Security experts estimate there are as many as 3,000 fighters loyal to the Islamic State in Libya. The country has become one of the primary locations to train with the group outside of Syria and Iraq. Volunteers from Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other countries have flocked to Libya to fight with the extremists and other jihadist organizations.

In the latest signs of their growing strength, Islamic State fighters have seized the airport and an adjacent air base in Sirte, where they have controlled most government institutions since February. The militants also took over the nearby headquarters of a mammoth network of pipes that pump fresh water to Libyan cities.

SUDAN: When the Arab-Israeli war began in June 1967, Sudan declared war on Israel and relations between Sudan and Israel remain hostile today. Israel accuses Sudan of serving as a supplier of Iranian arms to Hamas in Gaza. Sudan has stated that it will never normalize relations with Israel and blames Israel for air strikes on munitions facilities within Sudan. There are no formal diplomatic relations between the two nations. Under Israeli law, Sudan is an enemy nation and the Israeli government forbids its citizens to travel to Sudan and several other countries in the Middle East, without special permission from the Israeli Government. Things have changed so much in the region. I remember landing in Egypt the day after Gaddafi bombed Khartoum the capital of Sudan. I was the Movement Controller on the Air Force Airborne Command Post, a former Air Force One jet. Jimmy Carter’s former chef was our chef on the mission and the food was great. Anyway, things were tense in Egypt and they thought they would be bombed next. We changed into civilian clothes and were issued Egyptian ID cards before we got off the aircraft and traveled to the Novotel Hotel.

IRAN or PERSIA: Our wonderful State Department that classified Iran a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1984, just concluded a deal with them that WILL propel them into the nuclear arena. Of course, what nobody will tell you is that Iran has North Korean and Russian Nuclear Scientists in Iran and they can also buy nukes and probably already have.

This is taken with a grain of salt directly from the State Department Website: “Designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1984, Iran continued its terrorist-related activity in 2014, including support for Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza, Lebanese Hizballah, and various groups in Iraq and throughout the Middle East. This year, Iran increased its assistance to Iraqi Shia militias, one of which is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), in response to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) incursion into Iraq, and has continued to support other militia groups in the region. Iran also attempted to smuggle weapons to Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza. While its main effort focused on supporting goals in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, Iran and its proxies also continued subtle efforts at growing influence elsewhere including in Africa, Asia, and, to a lesser extent, Latin America. Iran used the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) to implement foreign policy goals, provide cover for intelligence operations, and create instability in the Middle East. The IRGC-QF is the regime’s primary mechanism for cultivating and supporting terrorists abroad.

Iran views Syria as a crucial causeway in its weapons supply route to Lebanese Hizballah, its primary beneficiary, and as a key pillar in its “resistance” front. In 2014, Iran continued to provide arms, financing, training, and the facilitation of primarily Iraqi Shia and Afghan fighters to support the Asad regime’s brutal crackdown that has resulted in the deaths of at least 191,000 people in Syria, according to August UN estimates. Iran publicly admits to sending members of the IRGC to Syria in an advisory role. There is consistent media reporting that some of these troops are IRGC-QF members and that they have taken part in direct combat operations. While Tehran has denied that IRGC-QF personnel participate in combat operations, in 2014 it acknowledged the deaths in Syria of two senior officers (Brigadier Generals Abdullah Eskandari and Jamar Dariswali). Tehran claimed they were volunteers who lost their lives while protecting holy shrines near Damascus.

Likewise in Iraq, despite its pledge to support Iraq’s stabilization, Iran increased training and funding to Iraqi Shia militia groups in response to ISIL’s advance into Iraq. Many of these groups, such as Kata’ib Hizballah (KH), have exacerbated sectarian tensions in Iraq and have committed serious human rights abuses against primarily Sunni civilians. The IRGC-QF, in concert with Lebanese Hizballah, provided training outside of Iraq as well as advisors inside Iraq for Shia militants in the construction and use of sophisticated improvised explosive device (IED) technology and other advanced weaponry. Similar to Hizballah fighters, many of these trained Shia militants have used these skills to fight for the Asad regime in Syria or against ISIL in Iraq.

Iran has historically provided weapons, training, and funding to Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups, including Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC). These Palestinian terrorist groups have been behind a number of deaths from attacks originating in Gaza and the West Bank. Although Hamas’s ties to Tehran have been strained due to the Syrian civil war, in a November 25 speech, Supreme Leader Khamenei highlighted Iran’s military support to “Palestinian brothers” in Gaza and called for the West Bank to be similarly armed. In December, Hamas Deputy Leader Moussa Abu Marzouk announced bilateral relations with Iran and Hamas were “back on track.”

In March, Israeli naval forces boarded the Klos C cargo ship in the Red Sea off the coast of Sudan. On board, they found 40 M-302 rockets, 180 mortars, and approximately 400,000 rounds of ammunition hidden within crates of cement labeled “Made in Iran” and believed to be destined to militants in the region.

Since the end of the 2006 Israeli-Hizballah conflict, Iran has also assisted in rearming Lebanese Hizballah, in direct violation of UNSCR 1701. General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the IRGC Aerospace Force stated in November that “The IRGC and Hezbollah are a single apparatus jointed together,” and Lebanese Hizballah Deputy Secretary General Naim Qassem boasted that Iran had provided his organization with missiles that had “pinpoint accuracy” in separate November public remarks. Iran has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in support of Lebanese Hizballah in Lebanon and has trained thousands of its fighters at camps in Iran. These trained fighters have used these skills in direct support of the Asad regime in Syria and, to a lesser extent, in support of operations against ISIL in Iraq. They have also continued to carry out attacks along the Lebanese border with Israel.

Iran remained unwilling to bring to justice senior al-Qa’ida (AQ) members it continued to detain, and refused to publicly identify those senior members in its custody. Iran previously allowed AQ facilitators to operate a core facilitation pipeline through Iran since at least 2009, enabling AQ to move funds and fighters to South Asia and Syria.

Iran remains a state of proliferation concern. Despite multiple UNSCRs requiring Iran to suspend its sensitive nuclear proliferation activities, Iran continued to be in noncompliance with its international obligations regarding its nuclear program. Implementation of the Joint Plan of Action (JPOA) between the P5+1 (China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, coordinated by the EU), and Iran began on January 20, 2014. Iran has fulfilled the commitments that it made under the JPOA. The parties negotiated during 2014 to pursue a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to achieve a long-term comprehensive solution to restore confidence that Iran’s nuclear program is and will remain exclusively peaceful.”
Yep, sounds like a country we can trust about as far as we can throw Air Force One! So there they are, the players are in place.
It is an ancient Mariner,
And he stoppeth one of three.
`By thy long grey beard and glittering eye
Now wherefore stopp’st thou me?

The bridegroom’s doors are opened wide,
And I am next of kin;
The guests are met, the feast is set:
Mayst hear the merry din.’

Like the old poem, they will be jubilant when they cross the line to wipe Israel off the map but we all know Who will stop them and the end result. We pray for peace but we will not have peace until the Prince of Peace returns. I believe sincerely that many of us will see Christ return and some of the Jews, who lived in 1948 during the miracle of the regathering of Jews back to Israel, will see and believe.

History must be seen with the understanding that God has a Plan, and Jesus Christ is in control.

Thank you for this analysis of what is going on in the Middle East. It’s interesting to read someone else who views historical events from the point of the Bible, since all of human history must be seen in that perspective to make sense. I grew up listening to a pastor/teacher in Houston who taught this, and his lessons about the future have helped me understand that what is going on at this time may have great historical significance.
